Because roller screws have numerous contact points versus ball screws, the life of the actuators lengthen substantially. However, many things will affect the length of life for a roller screw. Here are some tips to increase roller screw life:
- Eliminate/mitigate side load/misalignment
- Reduce (or ideally, eliminate) hard impacts/shock loads
- No end crashing or hard stops. Bumpers are there for accidents only (use nice and controlled deceleration)
- Switch up the portion of the screw being used for press applications (evenly distribute the wear)
- Make sure wear parts are replaced as necessary (Front seal bushings and other seals/o-rings etc)
